The National Food Policy Research Institute categorizes hunger in India as alarming. It is seen that malnutrition is extremely high in all sections of of the population and is especially pronounced in for SC, ST and women.
The National Food Security Act (NFSA) emerged out of people’s movements. In the present booklet, we analyze, how the implementation of the Act and the proposed “reforms” excludes many food insecure people and places heavy burden on the poor.
